Library Course Offerings
In our credit courses, students learn how to navigate the AHC libraries, explore our resources and learn the foundations of college research. With a focus on information literacy, students gain an understanding of the importance of thorough research, proper citations and the issues of copyright and plagiarism. We currently offer two credit courses in the spring and fall semesters:
LBRY 170: Research Methods
This 2 credit unit online course presents effective methods for research to locate, critically evaluate, and ethically use information from a variety of print, non-print and online resources. Students will learn research skills and strategies for college term papers and life-long learning while exploring the changing world of information. This course uses Open Educational Resources (OER) materials and is a Zero Cost Textbook Course (ZTC).
LBRY 180: Advanced Research
Prerequisite: LBRY 170 or ENGL 101
This 3 credit unit online course presents advanced research methods with an emphasis
on learning how to use research to locate, critically evaluate, and ethically use
information from a variety of print, non-print and online resources. Emphasis is placed
on the effective use of research tools and critical analysis. This course will include
in-depth explorations of research resources such as article databases and will include
analysis of structural and pedagogical ramifications of taxonomies. This course uses
Open Educational Resources (OER) materials and is a Zero Cost Textbook Course (ZTC).
