Colleen M. Kelly
"The Dichotomy of Laundry"

Colleen M. Kelly is a Santa Barbara-based artist, with a MFA from UCSB. She double majored in Studio Art, Emphasis in Printmaking and Religious Studies at UCSB and developed strong interests in myth, symbolism, and mysticism. Themes of environmentalism,  social-justice, civil rights and feminist issues, all topics that that she continues to hold dear and deeply explore. 

This exhibit explores womens roles in a social context and how the enviornemntal issues impact gender. The beuatiful paper laundry works have been paintstakingly burned by hand with morse code imagery sending out a message of help or S.O.S..

As you enter the gallery space a large installation has been created to start conversations on gender roles and how the impact of the changin environment is afeecting those roles.

 

Opening recption will be-
February 4th, 4:30-6:30pm

The Ann Foxworthy Gallery is located inside the Academic Resource Center, bldg. L on the Santa Maria campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m
