MISSION

The Career Center serves a diverse student population to achieve their career and academic goals by providing personalized services through career counseling, skill-building programs, and partnerships with industries. We strive to connect and empower students with opportunities that align with their values, interests, and aspirations. 

Frequently Asked Questions


Before you schedule an appointment, complete the following: 

  • Appointments are only open to Hancock students.  An online admission application must be on file.  If you have been absent for two consecutive primary semesters (fall and spring), you are required to update your application. 
  • If you are an incoming student transferring from another college and need your transcript(s) evaluated, please take the following steps prior to scheduling your appointment.
    1. Order all official transcripts to be directly sent to our Admissions and Records Office
    2. Wait for an email confirmation that your transcript(s) were received and evaluated. 
    3. Once confirmed, schedule your counseling appointment.

  • Interpreting Career Assessments

To schedule a counseling appointment, you are required to use the Successnet link below.  You will be able to schedule an appointment with a counselor in your area of interests.  To specifically see a career counselor, select the Career Center.

Career Preparation Workshops
Participants meet in individual, small group or classroom workshops to learn resume writing and interview techniques at the Career Center lab.

Career Closet
The Career Closet offers new and gently used professional business attire for interviews at no cost to students in need. Interested students can receive more information regarding the program at the Career Center.

Internships
The Career Center helps to place students in paid or unpaid internship opportunities. Students gain valuable work experience while applying classroom lessons.

Job Referrals
Career Center staff collaborate with faculty and industry recruiters to connect students with career opportunities as they become available.

Mock Interviews
Students can schedule practice interviews with a career specialist.

Typing Tests
Students and the general public can take typing tests at the Career Center.

Career Readiness Academy (CRA)
Intensive hands-on training program focused on 21st century employability skills. The CRA is co-facilitated with help from area business and industry leaders.

California College Corps
A statewide program that provides paid service opportunities for college students in K-12 education, climate change, and food insecurity. 

College Now!
Allows eligible local high school students to attend regular college classes outside of the high school schedule.

Concurrent Enrollment
Supports High School students wishing to earn college credits while still in high school.

SkillsUSA
A leadership program open to high school and college-aged students. Students have the opportunity to compete in local, regional, state, and national leadership competitions.

Work Experience Education (WEE) Internships
Connects students with industry partners. Students have the opportunity to earn transfer-level credits while working in paid and or unpaid positions in their chosen career field.
