Campus Support and Services
Once you are enrolled in classes seek out all the help and support you can get on campus. All students enrolled at Allan Hancock College have the right to access the same general services such as Tutorial Services, Health Services, Learning Assistance Program, and Counseling. However, here are some campus resources that every AB 540 students should apply for, join, and utilize.
Book Lending Program
Books for Bulldogs is a free service that allows currently enrolled AHC students to borrow textbooks for an entire semester. To request a book, please go to the Books for Bulldogs website.
Dream Club
Student organized group that promote resources and advocate for those who fall under
AB 540 status. Anyone is welcome to join the club to help students make their dreams
come true. The club meet every other Friday from 9-10 a.m. in Building S, Room 106.

Emergency Grant
Emergency grants are available for students that experience an emergency. These funds
do not have to be paid back. Students may apply through the VP of Student Services
Office. Students are funded based on circumstances. The emergency grant is intended
for extenuating housing related cost, food security, medical, dental, computer, and
other unforeseen emergencies. Applications are available in Building A, Room 213,
Second Floor.
Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS)
Santa Maria Campus, Building A, Room 201, Second Floor
Apply for EOPS. AB 540 students are eligible for this state funded program. Students in the EOPS
program receive money to help pay for books, priority registration, extra hours of
tutoring, opportunities for free activities and trips, and more.
Financial Aid
Santa Maria Campus, Building A, First Floor
Complete the California Dream Act application. This application must be renewed every
year by March 2. Completing the CA Dream Act application allows eligible AB 540 students
to receive state and institutional financial aid. Link to California Dream Act Application
Complete The California College Promise Grant (CCPG). If you are still in the process of completing the CA Dream Act, fill out the CCPG prior to enrolling in classes. AB 540 student are eligible to apply for CCPG and if you qualify your enrollment fees will be waived. That mean you won’t have to pay for your classes which typically cost approximately $138 per class. Link to apply online for the CCPG
Hancock Scholarships
AHC Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship program allows a student to apply for
various scholarships for Hancock Students by filling out a single application, usually
available from November to February. Link to Allan Hancock College Foundation Scholarship Program
AB 540 Dream Scholarship
This scholarship is open to continuing, returning, or new Hancock College students.
AB 540 eligible high school seniors planning to enroll at Hancock are encouraged to
apply. Applications are typically available from April to June.
The AIM Fund
Support the needs of Basic Skills and ESL students that are ineligible for financial
aid, scholarships, and other forms of financial assistance.
Health Center Counseling
Santa Maria Campus, Building W, Room 12
Feeling pressure and stress can be normal and will pass with time but if you have
been feeling sad, hopeless, anxious, or not yourself for two or more weeks, it may
be time to meet with a counselor. Visit Student Health Services and work with a counselor
to design an individualized plan and develop strategies to cope with your situation.
Students can meet with a counselor up to 10 times a semester.
Noncredit Student Success and Support Program
Santa Maria Campus, Community Education, Building S
Assist students enrolled in adult basic education, noncredit English as a Second Language,
citizenship, and short-term vocational skills classes navigate the educational system
of the college from admissions until students reach their educational goals. The program
provides a range of bilingual services.
