Giving Back
There are many ways to contribute to the success of AB540/Dream Act students. The AB 540 Dream Project began as the result of a group of college faculty committed to assisting deserving students who lack financial support. Students that are classified under AB 540 have not obtained residency documentation yet, but have attended at least three years of school in California, and have received a high school diploma or equivalent. Many of our AB 540 students have lived in the Santa Maria/Lompoc/Santa Ynez Valley area for numerous years and contribute to our community; however they do not qualify for federal financial aid. This presents a tragic situation for many talented students who simply wish to become educated, provide for their families and have a positive, productive and meaningful impact on society.
The goal of the Dream Project is to provide financial assistance for eligible students to help pay for their education at Allan Hancock College (AHC). The AHC Foundation will administer the fund, while the Dream Project committee will select recipients that demonstrate financial need, good academic performance, and a strong desire to pursue higher education.
We hope you will join us in providing support for these deserving students. You may give by monthly deductions or you are welcome to make single donations whenever you please. Donations should be made directly to the Allan Hancock College Foundation, AB 540 Dream Fund. Your effort in supporting students is very much appreciated.
