Our California private universities are independent, nonprofit colleges who receive no public money, and rely on tuition, fees, and private funding sources. Each has its own unique mission to serve students. There are over 80 independent institutions in California,
California’s independent colleges and universities are all about – small class sizes, high quality academics, opportunities for involvement and leadership in campus activities, and strong learning and living communities.
Addionally, the California Community College Chancellor's Office has entered into formal memoranda of understanding (MOU) with some Independent California, Out-of-State, fully online, and Historically Black Colleges/Universities. These institutions have agreed to accept transfer students who have met the requirements for the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT).
