Registration Holds

Any hold that prevents registration, which is placed on a student account at Allan Hancock College, will prevent a student from the following:

  • Adding classes
  • Dropping classes on myHancock portal

It is the student's responsibility to clear holds promptly. Holds for CA residency and other hold types as indicated in the Hold Type Descriptions must be resolved with the department that requested the placement of the hold, as referenced in the hold type description.

Student Account Fee Holds

How to Check for Holds on Your Student Account

To check if you have a hold on your student account, log in to your myHancock portal and look for the Registration Holds section.

If you have a hold, the description will explain why it was placed on your account and whether you need to contact a specific department.

If you have a hold for an item you haven't returned (such as a library book, athletic equipment, or a calculator borrowed from the Math Center), you must either:

  • Return the item directly to the department you borrowed it from, or
  • Pay the replacement fee charged to your student account.

Once the item is returned or the fee is paid, the hold will be removed within 24 hours.

The chart below lists the different types of fee holds.
