Note Taking
Peer Notetaker
A student's diagnosis may prevent effective note taking. Peer notetakers are student volunteers already enrolled in the class who have good notetaking skills, good attendance, and a willingness to share their notes with a fellow student.
LAP can provide NCR paper (carbon paper) for use by the peer notetaker.
If you are using a Peer Notetaker, please plan on making arrangements for how you will receive those notes.
Copy of PowerPoint Notes
Some of your instructional faculty may utilize PowerPoint slides during instruction. This accommodation allows you to have access to the PPT slides for class to assist with note taking and comprehension. Please remember that, like all class materials, the slides are not to be shared with anyone else.
Permission to Audio Record
Students who are approved for this accommodation sign an audio recording agreement with the Learning Assistance Program (LAP). Please remember that all recordings are for your use only, and are to be deleted at the end of the term. Failure to do so is a violation of the Standards of Student Conduct.
This accommodation is also recognized in the Allan Hancock College Standards of Student Conduct (Board Policy 5500):
- The use of any electronic listening or recording device in a classroom or learning environment without the prior consent of the instructor, except as necessary to provide reasonable auxiliary aids or academic adjustments to disabled students
