Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging
Allan Hancock College has four EV charging stations with eight ports at the Santa Maria campus. There are three EV charging stations with six ports at the Lompoc Valley Center.
How do the EV charging stations work?
- Charging stations are open to the public at the rate of $0.25 per hour.
- Hancock College students, faculty, and staff may get a discounted rate of $0.13 per hour.
- EV owners download the ChargePoint app on their smartphone which connects to their
credit or debit card.
- Hancock students, faculty, and staff will need to request the discounted rate through the ChargePoint app using their valid Hancock email address for verification to receive the discounted rate.
- When you hold your phone to the card reader using the ChargePoint app, it will release the port which then plugs into your vehicle.
- The app will text or email you when your EV is charged and give you notice to move your vehicle. The vehicle must be moved to avoid extra fees (parking ticket) and to allow others use of the charging port. After four hours a parking fee will be charged to your account.
