Canvas Update
Current Status
Canvas Access Restored
Canvas access has been restored for Allan Hancock College students and employees following the third-party cybersecurity incident affecting Instructure, the company that provides the Canvas learning management system.
The college restored access at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, in coordination with guidance from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and cybersecurity partners. While the investigation remains ongoing, Instructure has indicated that some information may have been accessed during the incident. At this time, Allan Hancock College systems remain unaffected.
What to Expect
As services continue returning to normal, students and employees may experience temporary disruptions with certain Canvas integrations, embedded tools, or related services while systems continue to be reset, monitored, and secured.
Faculty and staff should continue communicating directly with students regarding coursework, assignments, or instructional updates if needed.
Stay Alert for Phishing Attempts
Students and employees should remain cautious of phishing emails, fake login pages, or unexpected password reset requests related to Canvas.
To help protect your information:
- Always access Canvas through the official Allan Hancock College login page
- Avoid clicking suspicious links or unexpected Canvas-related emails
- Never share usernames, passwords, or personal information through unofficial websites or email links
