Welcome to College Achievement Now (CAN)-TRIO Program
Who we are
The College Achievement Now (CAN) - TRIO (Student Support Services) program is federally-funded college retention, graduation, and transfer program. There are more than 2,800 TRIO programs nationally created to help over 800,000 students overcome class, social, and cultural barriers.
The program provides a variety of services to students who are first generation college students, economically disadvantaged, and students with disabilities evidencing academic need. Our staff is committed to supporting student success! CAN students are bright, motivated, and goal-oriented scholars who are looking for support to achieve their goals.
What We Do
The purpose of our program is to increase retention rates at Allan Hancock College, as well as increase transfer rates to a four-year, higher learning institution. We aim to help students achieve and maintain academic success. Our students are expected to pursue a degree, transfer, keep a satisfactory overall GPA, attend scheduled events, meet federally mandated objectives, and to complete their Hancock education in less than four years.

THE INTAKE PERIOD is ongoing. In general, admittance to the program is on a first-come, first-served basis. Our funding determines the number of students we serve, which is a total of 400 actively enrolled Allan Hancock students. All applications must be submitted online.
