Bomb Threat Evacuation Alarm
- Do not touch or otherwise disturb any suspicious object, letter, package or potential bomb on campus.
- Vacate the area and immediately call AHC Police Department, ext. 3911 (Santa Maria Campus), ext. 5911 (Lompoc Valley).
- AHC Police Department and/or local police agencies will conduct a detailed bomb search.
- If an evacuation is warranted, police personnel or college administrators will direct the evacuation.
- Exit the building by quickly walking to the nearest exit alerting people as you go. Leave the elevators for people with disabilities and assist them as necessary.
- Move to a clear area as directed by emergency staff. Keep the walkways clear for emergency vehicles.
- Emergency personnel will ensure affected facilities and/or occupancies have been fully vacated.
- If necessary, the Incident Command Center will be activated with key administrators under the direction of the AHC Police Department.
- Do not enter the building until told to do so by the AHC Police Department personnel or the administrator in charge.
- Any person receiving a phone call that a bomb or other explosive device has been placed on campus should ask the caller:
a. When is the bomb going to explode?
b. Where is the bomb located?
c. What kind of bomb is it?
d. What does it look like?
e. Why did you place the bomb?
- Keep talking to the caller as long as possible and record the following:
a. Time of call.
b. Age and sex of caller.
c. Speech pattern, accent.
d. Emotional state.
e. Background noises.
- Notify AHC Police Department immediately at ext. 3911 (Santa Maria Campus), ext. 5911 (Lompoc Valley Center) and supply them with the information outlined above. From your cell phone call Santa Maria Police Dispatch 925-2631, or Lompoc Police Dispatch 736-4511
- Do Not Use Portable Police 2-Way Radios During A Bomb Threat. (Radios May Activate Any Explosives.)
- If You Have Been Asked To Vacate, Do Not Return To A Building Until Told To Do So By The AHC Police Department Personnel Or The Administrator In Charge.
