Are you interested in how the past has shaped the present. . . and how the present
may shape the future? If you'd like to learn more about how societies evolve over time, then come make history with us.
Allan Hancock College’s history program focuses on both the recent and remote past
to foster an understanding of the continuity and change in human societies over time.
Learning about individuals and groups, events and phenomena, long-term and short-term
trends, institutions, societies, and cultures of the past can provide valuable insights
into the future.
Program graduates can transfer to four-year universities to continue their education
or pursue careers in education, business, library sciences, archeology, museum curation,
media, politics, and more.
This program will help you to:
- identify connections between specific people, groups, events, ideas, and larger historical
themes
- describe how the social, political, intellectual, and economic systems of a particular society change over time
- critically analyze primary and secondary sources used in research
