AHC Grant Highlights

ZTC wheel — $103,354 for ZTC Acceleration Grant
Funded by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Allan Hancock College submitted two proposals to create pathways for students to complete a degree or certification program without any textbook associated costs. The AHC Certified Nursing Assistant pathway is a unique ZTC program due to its streamlined design including (1) prerequisite and (1) certification course for a single semester. 1/2024 - 6/2026

Funded by the Foundation of California Community Colleges the grant provides opportunities to develop culturally responsive curricula. The project includes professional development of nursing faculty on matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion, assessment of nursing curricula and teaching pedagogies, development of culturally responsive learning experiences, and implementation of strategies to enhance learning and better prepare the nursing students for professional practice. 8/2023 - 12/2024

$3,373 for Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership

Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance under the US Department of Justice. The AHC Police Department will purchase 8 body armor ballistic resistant vests. This grant project reimburses up to 50 percent of the cost of body armor vests purchased for law enforcement officers. 9/2023 - 6/2024

Phoenix — $989,767 for Phoenix Scholars
Funded by the US Department of Education, this funding provides support to youth, ages 16 to 25 years, for the enrollment in higher education as a diversion from gang involvement. This program coordinates with law enforcement, probation, and the courts to provide deeply supportive services including restorative justice, support groups, personalized case planning, career readiness, and college enrollment. 10/22-9/25

CollegeCorp — $1,775,000 for CaliforniansForAll College Fellowship (College Corp)
Funded by the State of California, the California Volunteers, CaliforniansForAll College Fellowship initiative is building the next generation of civic leaders by engaging college students from all backgrounds in meaningful community service, while providing them with a path toward reducing college debt. 1/22-6/24

Funded by the California Student Aid Commission: California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP) this funding is designed to increase accessibility and information of post-secondary educational opportunities for elementary and secondary school students with low college-going rates. 7/22-6/23

Funded by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office Department of Education, the Rising Scholars Network grant funds a coordinator, outreach specialist, and student peer mentors to bridge the gap between formerly or currently incarcerated youth with college opportunities. The funding provides educational funding, social networking, and basic needs support. 7/22-6/25

CalFresh Food — $219,705 for CalFresh
Funded by the State of California, we are subcontracted under Chico State Enterprises Center for Healthy Communities utilizes our basic needs staff, to assist with CalFresh applications, the promotion of the CalFresh program and the incentive to gain assistance with food aid while being a student. 10/21-9/24

MESA — $90,000 for MESA
Funded by the California Community College Chancellor's Office, this funding provides support for the MESA program to continue to support the academic success and transfer of financial and educationally disadvantages students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields of study. 7/20-6/23

EV Charging Station — $45,000 for LVC EV Charging
Funded by the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District, this funding will provide support for the installation of three electric vehicle charging stations in Parking Lot Cat at the Lompoc Valley Campus. CALeVIP funded an additional $21,000 in clean air incentives to support this project. 4/22-4/23

Funded by the USDE, this program supports low-income parents in postsecondary education through campus-based child care services. Grants may be used for before- and after-school services. In addition, grants may be used to serve the child care needs of the community served by the institution.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, Hancock serves as the lead institution for the C6 Alliance, a multi-disciplinary STEM collaboration across eight community colleges that is the first of its kind in California. 8/21-7/24

Funded by the US DOE, Office of Postsecondary Education: Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program – Title V provides grants to assist Hispanic Serving Institutions to expand educational opportunities for the education of Hispanic students. 10/20-9/25

The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs. 9/18-8/23

One-time funding to create a welcoming physical environment, creating a positive, social environment, addressing basic needs, providing health, wellness and self-care support and ensuring inclusive practice to build access and support safe spaces for LGBTQ+ students. 7/22 - 6/23
